Avinash Shekhar
With close to two decades of leadership in critical infrastructure, energy, and water, Avinash Shekhar serves as Global Energy Leader at Amazon Web Services, where he is charged with architecting long-term energy solutions that underpin AWS's data center expansion worldwide.
Mr. Shekhar's portfolio encompasses power generation strategy, clean energy procurement aligned to Amazon's 2040 Climate Pledge commitments, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and long-duration storage technologies, nuclear energy strategy, and oversight of Amazon's global portfolio of renewable Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and carbon-free energy (CFE) supply contracts for AWS.
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Shekhar served as the Asia-Pacific, Japan, and China (APJC) Energy and Water Infrastructure Leader. He founded the global AWS Water Infrastructure program in 2015 — establishing the operational frameworks that continue to guide AWS's water stewardship at scale across diverse geographies and regulatory landscapes.
Avinash has a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering and masters degree in Environmental Engineering and an MBA. Avinash is based in Seattle.
